MINUTES

 

This meeting, held at St. Moritz Grill & Bar, 9 White Deer Plaza, Sparta, NJ, was called to order at 1:08 pm by President Dana Mooney. 

 

ROLL CALL:     

 

            President Dana Mooney – present

            1st Vice-President Danette Dyer – absent

            2nd Vice-President Linda Roth - present

            Secretary Toni Grisaffi - present

            Treasurer Gail Magura – present

            Chaplain Jessica Caruso - present

 

The Treasurer’s report was available for this meeting.  A motion to approve the Treasurer’s report was made by Shawna Janoch, seconded by Regina Thomas.  All in favor.

 

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

 

            Dana will continue to reach out to area businesses.  Please send suggestions and or contact information to Dana ([email protected]) or Toni ([email protected]).

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

           

            The Spring Conference will be held at the Tropicana on May 19 – May 21, 2015.  You will receive a postcard notification in the mail.  Reservations will be online only.  Please see the State website for more information and the link to the hotel (www.tctanj.org).

 

            Deadline for submissions for the Spring Criterion is March 2, 2015.  Please send events to Dana or Jessica.

 

            Introduction of present Associate Business Members was made by Linda Roth.  In attendance were Kathy Schaffer with Municipal Software and Darren Lowe with MGL.

 

            The year marks the 25th Anniversary of the TCTA Scholarship program.  Nominations are due by 04/17/15.  A motion to donate $500.00 was made by Toni Grisaffi, seconded by Jessica Caruso.

 

            TCTANJ has requested donations for the Afternoon Break or Attitude Adjustment at the conference.  It was decided a contribution to the Legal Fund would be more beneficial.  A motion to donate $100.00 was made by Linda Roth, seconded by Regina Thomas.

 

            The most recent State meeting was very informative with many important topics brought up.  Dana will prepare and distribute a newsletter summarizing the issues discussed.

 

            Vice Presidents should forward meeting notices to TCTANJ to be posted on their website, allowing other regions to see what credits we are offering.  Additionally, Pat Turin is willing to speak at a future meeting on Internal Controls.  Vince Belluscio is also available to speak.

 

            The Northeast Regional Conference will be held from Sept 13 – Sept 15, 2015 at the White Sands Motel in Point Pleasant, NJ.  More details can be found on the TCTANJ website.

 

            The 2012 Homestead Rebate will be included on the May 2015 tax stub.  The files should arrive the first week in March.  MGL has already send out order forms.   

 

            Joan Donat gave a report on the last State Association meeting.   Notification of the Spring Conference will be via postcard.  Registration and reservations will be online.  Changes to the by-laws are being discussed.  Burlington will hold a seminar in March on OPRA.  A retirement dinner for Bill Driscoll will be held on 05/07/15.  Please check out the Star Ledger article from 02/18/15 dealing on the topic of Pension & Public Employees.  The Local PERS & PFRS are funded at the recommended levels.  The pension funds for State Employees are underfunded.  Consider going over the difference with your Governing Body.  The TCTANJ website has a list of recently passed laws.

            Regina Thomas, formerly of Hopatcong, was presented with a plaque commemorating her retirement.  Congratulations and thank you for your service Regina!

 

SPEAKER:

           

            Richard Stein from the law firm Laddy, Clark and Ryan, LLP spoke about Ethics.
